Public health careers
Job boards, graduate programs and practical tips for people looking for public health work in Australia, whether you grew up here or came here to study.
Before you apply: Public Health Australia is not a recruiter. We don't post jobs, screen employers or pass on applications. Never pay money to apply for a job or to "secure" a role, and always check the ad on the employer's own website.

Rules can change, so check your own visa conditions on the Department of Home Affairs website or in VEVO. Source: Study Australia: work in Australia.

Tips for public health job seekers
- Read the selection criteria closely and answer each one with a short, real example.
- Volunteering, placements and research assistant roles count as experience. List them.
- Job titles vary. Search for "health promotion", "epidemiology", "population health", "policy officer" and "project officer" as well as "public health".
Avoid job scams
Be careful if someone asks you to pay a fee, asks for your bank or ID details before a proper interview, contacts you only through WhatsApp or Telegram, or offers pay that seems too good to be true. Learn the signs at Scamwatch: jobs and employment scams.
